The ultimate Outback historical experience. _ Become a part of a real working property and tour the fully restored homestead and workers accommodation. This uniquely designed homestead is a fine example of Queensland architecture, which was built in 1911 by one of Australia's most famous landholders, Sir Samuel McCaughey. Current owners of Bonus Downs, Lyle and Madonna Connolly, take their responsibility as custodians of this unique part of Queensland's history seriously and have painstakingly restored the homestead and buildings. Today Bonus Downs is ranked as one of the finest and oldest established properties in the Maranoa. Guests are encouraged to take a bushwalk and discover many different plant and timber species including a stand of rare Ooline trees, relicts of ancient Gondwanan Rainforests with origins dating back 1.6 million years. During cooler parts of the day visitors will be able to observe a range of wildlife such as goannas, kangaroos, emus and a variety of birdlife. Bonus Downs offers good old-fashioned country hospitality in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. _ CONTACT _ (07) 4623 1573
